Sync files and folders outside of your Dropbox
If you would like to sync a file or folder outside of your Dropbox folder on your Mac, you can do so very easily with SymbolicLinker. Once you follow the easy 4 step installation instructions included in the download, SymbolicLinker creates a new menu item for your Finder right click menu that allows you to create a symbolic link for a file or folder with one click (see screenshot).
Once you create the symbolic link, you can rename it, and simply drag it anywhere in your Dropbox folder. Dropbox will now sync any changes made to the original file or folder, automatically.
When doing this, be sure to mind your Dropbox storage limits, as some files or folders may be too large for your free or paid Dropbox space. If you want more Dropbox space, you can pay for their reasonable premium plans. And if you aren’t using Dropbox yet, I highly recommend you sign up - use this referral link to get an additional 250MB of space free!
PS If you want to know why my Finder looks like that, stay tuned for my next post!
